Semaglutide

GENERAL BACKGROUND

Ozempic or Wegovy are brand names for semaglutide, a prescription medication used to treat type 2 diabetes and obesity. The mass tort involving semaglutide includes lawsuits filed against Novo Nordisk, the manufacturer of these drugs, alleging that they caused serious side effects.

QUALIFYING INJURIES

  • Persistent vomiting
  • Hospitalization for vomiting and/or gastric injuries
  • Ileus
  • Gastroparesis
  • Pulmonary Aspiration(associated w/anesthesia/surgery)
  • Stomach Paralysis
  • Pancreatic Cancer
  • DVT

CRITERIA

  • PC must have used Ozempic or Wegovy
  • PC must have suffered from any of the following injury(s)
    • Persistent vomiting for 4+ weeks requiring medical care(at least one overnight stay)
    • Hospitalization for vomiting and/or gastric injuries while taking the drug or within 60 days of stopping
    • Diagnosis with ileus, gastroparesis, pulmonary aspiration(associated w/anesthesia/surgery), stomach paralysis, pancreatic cancer, DVT, or while either still taking the medication or within 6 months of stopping
  • PC must not have taken the drug or suffered the qualifying injury in Michigan
  • PC must not currently be represented by an attorney
  • Death SOL applies
